It was announced a few days ago that Nick Saban would win the Home Depot Coach of the Year Award that was presented tonight in Orlando. What wasn't announced prior tonight is that Andre Smith is the winner of the Outland Trophy - given to the nation's best lineman.
Ironically enough, Andre won the award over Ole Miss' Michael Oher, who won the SEC's Jacobs Trophy, given to the league's best blocker.
Andre is the first winner of the Outland for Bama since Chris Samuels won the award in 1999. It's no coincidence that 1999 was also Bama's last SEC Title Game appearance.
Also announced today was the Walter Camp All-American Team. Andre was the Tide's only first team member, though Terrence Cody and Rashad Johnson were both named to the second team.
