Nick Saban found a penny - heads up - on his podium to start the press conference. He said he considered that good luck and began talking about Arkansas.
He called Arkansas a "good team" (liar), and noted that Fayetteville was a "hostile environment" (true). He indicated that Alabama would be tested this weekend, and he's dead on about that.
Then, injury roll call:
- Marlon Davis has practiced for 2 days without issue. He's ready to go.
- Everyone else is practicing "full go"
That friends, is good news.
Prince Hall will continue to "add depth". We can play either at mike or will. Charlie Higginbotham can play either position as well, but Chris Jordan is a will only. To start, he'll have to "beat someone out". He also noted that Hall was getting work in the nickel and "money" packages. Some of that work appeared to be with the first unit.
Saban noted that he'd watched Petrino tapes from Arkansas, Louisville and even the Atlanta Falcons. He noted that the offense was mostly the same at each location, with wrinkles based on the personnel.
Saban briefly addressed the situation with Mark Ingram's father - who was sentenced to seven years in prison for bank fraud and money laundering. Saban said that Ingram had handled the situation with maturity and that everyone on the staff had the Ingram family in their thoughts.
