A week in, and Bama is still number one. Saturday, we'll obviously find out more about what the Tide has - Penn State looked good in their opener against (an admittedly hapless) Youngstown State.
Boise State looked good in an exceptionally entertaining game against Virginia Tech last night. I'm not ready to vault them over the Tide; Virginia Tech made tons of mistakes, and Boise plays teams that Youngstown state would give trouble the balance of the year. Ohio State looked great. And I don't care who Oregon was playing, if you put up 59 in the first half, you've got some weapons.
Texas looked sleepy against Rice. Florida looked comatose against Miami of Ohio. They both drop (Florida more than Texas).
And yes, I have North Carolina ranked ahead of LSU. Explanation after the jump.
Yes, North Carolina lost to LSU on a neutral field. I saw it (well, most of the second half of it). But, assuming North Carolina gets anyone back from the NCAA mess, does anyone think that LSU wins a rematch?
While Auburn's offense is scary good, their D is just scary. We'll see what happens Thursday and where they are after. I'm intrigued.
We'll know more about Georgia and South Carolina this week as well. There are a lot of great games coming up this weekend. Who's excited for week 2 of the season?
